Honorable
Minister for agriculture
and cooperatives holds
the overall charge of
the Ministry and the secretary
is the administrative
head and the chief adviser
to the Minister on policy,
planning and administration.
The Ministry is the central
apex
body of Government of
Nepal to look after the
agriculture and allied
fields in the kingdom.
The Ministry of Agriculture
and Cooperatives consists
of five divisions, two
centers, one research
and development council,
four departments, four
projects and autonomous
bodies of one research
council, four corporations
and a few development
committees and boards.In
and under the Ministry
of Agriculture and Cooperatives
there are more than 10,000
employees of which about
12 percent are officer,
around 50 percent are
non-gazetted staffs and
rest of them are class
less typists, drivers
and peons.
Agriculture development program are run in all 75 districts, several agricultural services centers and in thousands of pocket areas at the grass root levels. The supervision and technical backstopping in the regional level are done through five regional directorates each for agriculture and livestock departments.
